ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to the evaluate of the employability of graduates in Nigeria. The study was carried out to study the employability level of graduates in Nigeria, evaluate whether education is the only factor to influence employability of graduates in Nigeria, and study if there are other factors that can improve the employability of graduates in Nigeria. The survey design was adopted and the simple random sampling techniques were employed in this study. The population size comprised of workers in Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment Nigeria. In determining the sample size, the researcher conveniently selected 147 respondents and 141 were validated. Self-constructed and validated questionnaire was used for data collection. The collected and validated questionnaires were analyzed using frequency tables, and mean scores. The result of the findings reveals that the employability rate of graduates in Nigeria is low. Furthermore, the study revealed that education is not the only factor to influence employability of graduates in Nigeria. Therefore, it is recommended that employability skills should be taught as a general course because when the curricula incorporates courses that would enhance graduate productivity at work, graduates of our tertiary institutions will be well-equipped to meet the challenges of the workplace environment trend; and there should be periodic reviews of the school curricula and programmes of tertiary institutions to make them relevant to existing gaps and responsive to changes in the societal needs, labour market requirements, economic trends, rapid changes in information technology and globalization.
