Background of the Study
Employee engagement refers to the level of enthusiasm and commitment employees feel toward their jobs and their organization. It has become an essential factor in improving productivity, reducing turnover, and enhancing overall organizational performance. In telecommunications companies like Airtel Nigeria, employee engagement is critical due to the competitive nature of the industry, especially in regions such as Kebbi State (Olamide & Waziri, 2024). As Airtel continues to expand its reach in the region, the company has developed various employee engagement strategies aimed at enhancing job satisfaction, organizational loyalty, and productivity.
Kebbi State, with its unique demographic and economic characteristics, presents specific challenges in implementing effective employee engagement strategies. Factors such as cultural influences, access to resources, and limited professional development opportunities can all affect the success of engagement initiatives. Airtel’s efforts to engage employees in Kebbi State must take these challenges into account in order to be effective. While several studies have examined employee engagement in the Nigerian context, the specific impact of Airtel’s strategies on engagement levels in Kebbi State remains underexplored (Aliyu & Musa, 2023).
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of employee engagement strategies in Airtel Nigeria’s Kebbi State operations and to identify the strategies that have the most significant impact on employee performance and retention.
