Background of the Study

Knowledge management (KM) systems are crucial tools used by organizations to collect, store, and share knowledge and information within the workforce. The goal of KM is to leverage collective knowledge to improve decision-making, innovation, and operational efficiency. In today’s business environment, organizations are increasingly recognizing the value of knowledge as a strategic asset. KM systems facilitate the flow of information across departments, promote collaboration, and enable better access to expertise, thus enhancing organizational performance (Nguyen & Hwang, 2024).

In Bauchi State, businesses across various sectors are adopting KM systems to manage their intellectual assets and improve internal processes. However, the success of these systems often depends on the alignment between technology, organizational culture, and management practices. Despite the potential benefits, some organizations in Bauchi State struggle with implementing effective KM systems due to inadequate infrastructure, lack of staff training, and resistance to change. This study will evaluate the role of KM systems in improving organizational efficiency within businesses in Bauchi State, identifying the key factors that influence their effectiveness.
