Background of the Study

Cybersecurity awareness is vital for protecting organizational data and systems from cyber threats. Employees are often the first line of defense against cyberattacks, making their awareness and adherence to cybersecurity protocols critical for organizational safety (Adebayo & Suleiman, 2023).

In Jigawa State, banks face rising cyber risks due to increased reliance on digital systems for transactions and customer interactions. Despite implementing cybersecurity measures, human errors stemming from low awareness levels remain a significant challenge. This study evaluates the level of cybersecurity awareness among bank employees in Jigawa State and its implications for organizational security.

Statement of the Problem

Many banks in Jigawa State experience cybersecurity breaches caused by employee negligence or ignorance. This issue highlights a gap in cybersecurity training and awareness programs, undermining the effectiveness of technological safeguards. Addressing this problem requires understanding the current state of employee awareness and its impact on organizational security.

Objectives of the Study

  1. To assess the level of cybersecurity awareness among bank employees in Jigawa State.
  2. To identify factors affecting cybersecurity awareness in corporate organizations.
  3. To evaluate the impact of cybersecurity awareness on organizational security in Jigawa State banks.

Research Questions

  1. What is the level of cybersecurity awareness among bank employees in Jigawa State?
  2. What factors affect cybersecurity awareness in corporate organizations?
  3. How does cybersecurity awareness impact organizational security in Jigawa State banks?

Research Hypotheses

  1. Cybersecurity awareness among bank employees in Jigawa State is not significantly high.
  2. Factors affecting cybersecurity awareness do not significantly influence employee preparedness.
  3. Cybersecurity awareness does not significantly impact organizational security in Jigawa State banks.

Scope and Limitations of the Study

The study focuses on banks in Jigawa State and examines employee cybersecurity awareness from 2023 to 2025. Limitations include variability in training programs and potential biases in employee self-assessments.
