Background of the Study
The entrepreneurial mindset is critical for the growth and sustainability of businesses, particularly in emerging economies. It encompasses qualities such as innovation, risk-taking, and proactivity, which drive decision-making and business strategies. For small businesses like restaurants, the entrepreneurial mindset influences how owners adapt to market demands, manage risks, and seize growth opportunities (Smith & Johnson, 2024).

In Yobe State, where the hospitality sector is growing amidst infrastructural and economic challenges, restaurant owners often face stiff competition and fluctuating demand. However, those with a strong entrepreneurial mindset have been able to navigate these challenges by diversifying their offerings, embracing innovation, and maintaining a customer-focused approach. This study examines the influence of an entrepreneurial mindset on business growth within the restaurant industry in Yobe State.

Statement of the Problem
Despite the significant role of the hospitality industry in the economic development of Yobe State, many restaurant businesses struggle to achieve growth and profitability. Research has shown that businesses with an entrepreneurial mindset tend to perform better by anticipating market trends and adapting effectively (Aliyu & Musa, 2023). However, the exact impact of such a mindset on the growth of restaurants in Yobe State remains underexplored. This study seeks to fill this gap by assessing how an entrepreneurial mindset influences business growth in the restaurant sector.

  2. To identify the key entrepreneurial traits that contribute to business success in the restaurant industry.
  3. To recommend strategies for enhancing entrepreneurial mindsets among restaurant owners in Yobe State.

Research Questions

  1. How does an entrepreneurial mindset affect the growth of restaurant businesses in Yobe State?
  2. What entrepreneurial traits are most crucial for the success of restaurant owners?
  3. What strategies can be implemented to foster an entrepreneurial mindset among restaurant owners?
