Background of the Study
Green supply chain practices aim to reduce environmental impact while enhancing operational efficiency. These practices include sustainable sourcing, energy-efficient logistics, and waste reduction strategies. In international markets, stringent environmental regulations and consumer awareness have driven the adoption of green practices, whereas Nigerian markets are gradually integrating these principles into supply chain operations (Eze & Bello, 2023).

Guinness Nigeria, a leading beverage company, operates in both domestic and international markets. Its efforts to adopt green supply chain practices present an opportunity to evaluate their comparative effectiveness in meeting environmental and operational objectives (Oluwaseun & Musa, 2024).

Statement of the Problem
While green supply chain practices offer significant benefits, their implementation varies between Nigerian and international markets due to differences in regulatory frameworks, infrastructure, and consumer demand. Guinness Nigeria faces challenges in aligning its practices across these markets. This study seeks to compare the effectiveness of green supply chain strategies in achieving sustainability goals in Nigeria and internationally (Usman & Hassan, 2023).

Objectives of the Study

  1. To evaluate the effectiveness of green supply chain practices in the Nigerian market.
  2. To assess the implementation of green supply chain strategies in international markets.
  3. To recommend strategies for optimizing green supply chain practices at Guinness Nigeria.

Research Questions

  1. How effective are green supply chain practices in reducing environmental impact in Nigeria?
  2. What factors influence the implementation of green supply chain strategies in international markets?
  3. How can Guinness Nigeria optimize its green supply chain practices across markets?

Research Hypotheses

  1. H0: Green supply chain practices do not significantly reduce environmental impact in Nigeria.
  2. H0: Green supply chain strategies do not significantly improve operational efficiency in international markets.
  3. H0: There is no significant difference in the effectiveness of green supply chain practices between Nigerian and international markets.

Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study focuses on comparing green supply chain practices in Guinness Nigeria’s domestic and international operations, emphasizing environmental impact and operational efficiency. Limitations include data availability and variability in market-specific practices.

Definitions of Terms

  1. Green Supply Chain Practices: Strategies that minimize environmental impact while enhancing supply chain performance.
  2. Sustainability: Meeting present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
  3. Environmental Impact: The effect of supply chain operations on the natural environment.
