Background of the Study

The rapid pace of technological advancement has transformed the global business landscape, providing startups with opportunities to scale operations, optimize processes, and improve efficiency. Technology adoption, particularly in areas like cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital marketing, has been a cornerstone of successful business scalability (Rogers & Lee, 2023).

In Niger State, startups face constraints such as limited access to capital, inadequate technological infrastructure, and skill gaps among employees. These challenges impede their ability to fully harness the potential of modern technologies for scalability (Ahmed & Musa, 2024).

This study examines the impact of technology adoption on business scalability, focusing on startups in Niger State.

Statement of the Problem

Startups in Niger State often operate under resource constraints and encounter challenges in adopting and integrating technology effectively. Limited scalability hinders their ability to compete in a technology-driven global economy, leaving many startups unable to expand operations and capture new markets (Bello & Yakubu, 2025).

This study investigates how technology adoption influences scalability and identifies barriers to effective technology integration among startups in the region.

Objectives of the Study

  1. To identify the types of technology adopted by startups in Niger State.
  2. To assess the impact of technology adoption on business scalability.
  3. To explore challenges faced by startups in adopting technology.

Research Questions

  1. What technologies are adopted by startups in Niger State?
  2. How does technology adoption affect their scalability?
  3. What challenges hinder effective technology adoption in startups?

Research Hypotheses

  1. Technology adoption positively impacts business scalability.
  2. Startups leveraging advanced technologies achieve higher scalability.
  3. Challenges in technology adoption reduce its scalability benefits.

Scope and Limitations of the Study

This study focuses on startups in Niger State and examines their technology adoption practices and its influence on scalability from 2023 to 2025. Limitations include variability in the level of technology adoption and access to proprietary startup data.
