Background of the Study
Knowledge management has emerged as a critical factor for business growth in the contemporary competitive environment. It involves the systematic creation, sharing, and utilization of knowledge to achieve organizational goals (Nonaka & Takeuchi, 2023). In the manufacturing sector, knowledge management strategies play a pivotal role in improving operational efficiency, enhancing product quality, and fostering innovation. Bauchi State, home to several manufacturing firms, has a growing industrial sector with the potential to drive regional economic development.
Despite its importance, many manufacturing firms in Bauchi State struggle to implement effective knowledge management strategies. Challenges such as poor organizational culture, inadequate technological infrastructure, and limited employee engagement hinder the ability to leverage knowledge effectively (Adamu et al., 2024). Addressing these challenges is essential to unlocking the growth potential of manufacturing firms in the state.
This study investigates the knowledge management strategies employed by manufacturing firms in Bauchi State and their impact on business growth. It seeks to identify best practices and provide actionable insights for fostering a knowledge-driven business environment.
Statement of the Problem
The inability of many manufacturing firms in Bauchi State to harness and utilize knowledge effectively is a major barrier to their growth. Inefficiencies in knowledge sharing, low investment in technology, and lack of strategic focus on knowledge management contribute to suboptimal performance (Yusuf & Ibrahim, 2025).
Existing studies have emphasized the importance of knowledge management but often lack contextual insights specific to the manufacturing sector in Bauchi State. This research addresses this gap by examining how knowledge management strategies influence business growth in the region.
