Background of the Study

Human Resource Outsourcing (HRO) involves the delegation of HR functions, such as recruitment, payroll, and benefits management, to external service providers (Hassan & Akin, 2023). For many organizations, outsourcing HR functions allows for cost savings, access to specialized expertise, and increased efficiency (Musa & Olumide, 2024). In the banking sector, particularly at GTBank in Taraba State, HRO has gained traction as a strategic tool to streamline HR processes and focus on core business activities.

GTBank, one of Nigeria’s leading banks, outsources several HR functions to external providers to enhance service delivery and reduce operational costs. However, there is limited research on how HRO impacts the overall performance of the bank, particularly in terms of employee satisfaction, operational efficiency, and financial outcomes (Oluwatobiloba & Oluwaseun, 2023). This study aims to evaluate the effects of HRO on GTBank’s organizational performance in Taraba State and provide recommendations for optimizing outsourcing practices.

Statement of the Problem

While HRO is commonly used in the banking sector, its impact on organizational performance, particularly at GTBank in Taraba State, remains under-explored. Poorly managed outsourcing relationships can lead to a decline in service quality, loss of control over HR functions, and increased costs, negatively affecting organizational performance (Uzochukwu & Chinedu, 2023). Therefore, an evaluation of the effects of HRO on GTBank’s performance is necessary to assess its effectiveness and suggest improvements.

Objectives of the Study

  1. To evaluate the human resource outsourcing practices implemented at GTBank in Taraba State.

  2. To assess the impact of human resource outsourcing on GTBank’s organizational performance.

  3. To recommend strategies for optimizing human resource outsourcing practices to improve organizational performance at GTBank.

Research Questions

  1. What human resource outsourcing practices are implemented at GTBank in Taraba State?

  2. How does human resource outsourcing affect GTBank’s organizational performance?

  3. What improvements can be made to human resource outsourcing practices to enhance organizational performance at GTBank?

Research Hypotheses

  1. Human resource outsourcing has a significant positive effect on organizational performance at GTBank in Taraba State.

  2. There is a positive relationship between human resource outsourcing and employee satisfaction at GTBank.

  3. The implementation of HRO improves the operational efficiency and financial performance of GTBank.

Scope and Limitations of the Study

This study will focus on human resource outsourcing practices at GTBank in Taraba State and their impact on organizational performance. Limitations include the challenge of accessing detailed financial and performance data and potential biases in employee perceptions of HRO practices.
