ABSTRACT: Enhancing vocational education through the use of AI in career planning is essential for preparing students for the dynamic job market. This study aimed to: (1) examine how AI tools are integrated into vocational education for career planning, (2) evaluate the effectiveness of AI in improving students' career readiness, and (3) identify challenges and opportunities associated with the use of AI in career planning. A survey research design was employed to gather data from students, educators, and career counselors. The sample size consisted of 150 respondents selected through purposive sampling from Lagos State. The case study focused on a vocational training institute that has implemented AI-based career planning tools. Findings revealed that AI significantly enhanced career guidance by providing personalized career pathways and skill gap analysis, although challenges such as access to advanced AI tools and the need for instructor training were noted. Recommendations included investing in AI infrastructure, providing continuous professional development for educators, and fostering partnerships with AI developers to keep tools updated and relevant.
