ABSTRACT: The role of vocational education in promoting sustainable fisheries technologies is vital for the sustainable management of aquatic resources. This study aimed to: (1) evaluate the integration of sustainable fisheries technologies in vocational education programs, (2) assess the preparedness of students for careers in sustainable fisheries, and (3) identify areas for improvement in the curriculum. A survey research design was utilized to gather data from educators, students, and fisheries professionals. The sample size included 140 respondents selected through purposive sampling from Bayelsa State. The case study focused on a vocational institute specializing in fisheries and aquaculture training. Findings revealed that while basic sustainable practices were incorporated into the curriculum, there was a need for more comprehensive training on advanced sustainable fisheries technologies. Recommendations included updating curricula to include the latest sustainable practices, increasing hands-on training opportunities, and fostering partnerships with fisheries organizations to provide real-world experience for students.
