ABSTRACT: Developing vocational training programs for smart waste management technologies is crucial for addressing the challenges of modern waste management and promoting environmental sustainability. This study aimed to design effective vocational training programs for smart waste management, assess their impact on student skills and competencies, and evaluate overall student satisfaction with the training. A survey design was selected to gather comprehensive data from participants involved in smart waste management training. The sample size included 180 students from various technical institutions specializing in environmental science and waste management. Purposive sampling was used to select participants with a background in environmental studies. The case study was conducted at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Findings indicated that the new training programs significantly enhanced students' understanding of smart waste management technologies, improved their skills in waste management practices, and provided hands-on experience with innovative waste management solutions. Students reported high levels of satisfaction with the training programs, noting the relevance and practicality of the curriculum. It was recommended that vocational training institutions continuously update their programs to incorporate the latest smart waste management technologies and foster partnerships with industry stakeholders to ensure the training remains current and effective.
