ABSTRACT: The role of vocational education in promoting sustainable urban planning is crucial for developing skilled professionals capable of addressing urbanization challenges sustainably. This study aimed to evaluate how vocational education programs contribute to sustainable urban planning, identify the specific skills and competencies developed, and assess overall student satisfaction with the training programs. A survey design was employed to gather comprehensive data from participants in sustainable urban planning training. The sample size comprised 150 students from various vocational institutions specializing in urban planning and environmental management. Purposive sampling was used to select participants with a background in urban studies. The case study was conducted at the University of Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria. Findings indicated that vocational education significantly enhanced students' skills in sustainable urban design, improved their understanding of urban planning regulations and policies, and increased their ability to implement sustainable urban development projects. Students reported high levels of satisfaction with the curriculum, noting its relevance and practical applications. It was recommended that vocational training institutions expand their urban planning programs to include more hands-on projects and develop partnerships with urban planning agencies to ensure the curriculum remains current and effective.
