ABSTRACT: The impact of augmented reality (AR) on vocational training for construction is transformative, offering immersive learning experiences that enhance skill acquisition and retention. This study aimed to evaluate how AR technology improves vocational training outcomes in the construction industry, identify specific competencies developed through AR-enhanced learning, and assess student satisfaction with AR-integrated training programs. A survey design was chosen to gather comprehensive data from participants in AR-based construction training. The sample size included 200 students from various vocational institutions specializing in construction trades. Purposive sampling was used to select participants with prior experience in construction training. The case study was conducted at the Lagos State Polytechnic, Lagos State, Nigeria. Findings revealed that AR significantly improved students' spatial awareness, technical skills in blueprint reading and structural analysis, and their ability to visualize complex construction projects. Students reported high levels of satisfaction with the AR-enhanced curriculum, noting its interactive and engaging nature. It was recommended that vocational training institutions expand the use of AR in their programs and develop partnerships with construction firms to integrate AR into real-world training scenarios.
