ABSTRACT: The role of vocational training in supporting sustainable fisheries management is crucial for ensuring the long-term health and productivity of aquatic ecosystems. This study aimed to evaluate how vocational training programs contribute to sustainable fisheries management, identify the specific skills and competencies developed, and assess the overall satisfaction of participants with the training programs. A survey design was chosen to gather comprehensive data from participants involved in fisheries management training. The sample size included 150 students from various vocational institutions. Purposive sampling was employed to select participants with relevant experience in fisheries education. The case study was conducted at the Nigerian Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research, Lagos State, Nigeria. Findings indicated that vocational training significantly enhanced students' technical skills in sustainable fishing practices, improved their understanding of ecosystem management, and increased their awareness of regulatory frameworks. Students reported high levels of satisfaction with the curriculum, noting its relevance and practical applications. It was recommended that vocational training institutions continue to update their programs to include the latest sustainable practices and foster collaborations with industry stakeholders to ensure the curriculum remains relevant and impactful.
