ABSTRACT: The integration of Internet of Things (IoT) in vocational training for smart home systems is crucial for preparing the workforce for the growing demand for smart technology solutions. This study aimed to assess the impact of IoT education on vocational training outcomes, identify the specific skills enhanced through IoT training, and evaluate student satisfaction with IoT-focused curricula. A survey design was employed to collect data from a broad range of participants. The sample size comprised 220 students enrolled in vocational programs that included IoT modules. Purposive sampling was used to select students who had experience with IoT education. The case study was conducted at the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, in Imo State, Nigeria. The findings indicated that IoT education significantly improved students' technical skills in smart home systems, increased their interest in technology and innovation, and enhanced their problem-solving capabilities. Students expressed high satisfaction with the IoT curriculum, noting its relevance and the practical skills gained. It was recommended that vocational training institutions expand their IoT offerings and continuously update curricula to reflect the latest advancements in smart home technologies.
