ABSTRACT: Strategies for Promoting Industry Relevance in Vocational Education investigates approaches to align vocational education programs with industry needs and promote industry-relevant skills among students. This study explores strategies to bridge the gap between vocational training and industry requirements to enhance graduates' employability and workplace readiness. The objectives were: to identify industry-specific skills and competencies in demand by employers, to analyze current practices in integrating industry relevance into vocational curricula, and to propose strategies for curriculum development and industry partnerships to meet evolving industry demands. A survey research design was chosen to gather data from employers, industry associations, vocational educators, and students, providing insights into industry expectations and vocational education outcomes. A sample size of 250 respondents was purposively selected to include stakeholders from vocational institutes and industrial sectors in Lagos State, Nigeria, recognized for their dynamic economic activities. The case study focused on collaborations between vocational schools and local industries in Lagos, showcasing successful models of industry-relevant curriculum development and their impact on student employability. Findings indicated that industry-aligned vocational programs improved graduates' skills alignment with industry needs, facilitated internships and job placements, and fostered industry-academic partnerships. It is recommended that vocational institutions should conduct regular industry needs assessments, establish advisory boards with industry experts, offer industry certifications, promote internships and apprenticeships, and adapt curricula to incorporate emerging industry trends to ensure relevance and effectiveness in vocational education.
