ABSTRACT: Strategies for Integrating Industry-Specific Competencies into Vocational Curricula examines effective approaches to align vocational education with industry needs and equip students with specialized skills demanded by various sectors. This study investigates strategies for integrating industry-specific competencies into vocational curricula to enhance graduates' employability and career readiness. The objectives were: to identify key industry-specific competencies required by employers, to analyze current practices in integrating industry needs into vocational education, and to propose strategies for curriculum design and delivery to meet industry demands. A survey research design was chosen to gather data from employers, industry associations, vocational educators, and students, providing insights into industry expectations and vocational education outcomes. A sample size of 300 respondents was purposively selected to include participants from technical colleges, vocational training centers, and industry associations in Lagos State, Nigeria, known for its diverse industrial sectors. The case study focused on collaborations between vocational schools and local industries, showcasing successful models of industry-specific competency integration. Findings indicated that industry-aligned curricula improved graduates' job placement rates, bridged skills gaps, and fostered industry-academic partnerships. It is recommended that vocational institutions should conduct regular industry needs assessments, establish advisory boards with industry experts, offer industry certifications, promote internships and apprenticeships, and adapt curricula to incorporate emerging industry trends to ensure relevance and effectiveness in vocational education.
