ABSTRACT: The study on Stigma of Vocational Education in Society examines perceptions and attitudes towards vocational education and explores strategies to mitigate societal stigma. This study investigates the factors contributing to negative stereotypes associated with vocational training and proposes interventions to enhance the perceived value and prestige of vocational pathways. The objectives were: to identify societal perceptions and misconceptions about vocational education, to analyze the impact of stigma on vocational enrollment and outcomes, and to recommend strategies for changing societal attitudes towards vocational education. A survey research design was employed to gather data from educators, students, parents, employers, and community members, offering diverse perspectives on vocational education stigma. A sample size of 250 respondents was purposively chosen to represent stakeholders with varying levels of involvement in vocational education across different regions of Nigeria. The case study focused on the Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB), examining local efforts to combat stigma and promote vocational excellence. Findings indicated that stigma negatively affected vocational enrollment rates and career aspirations among youth, despite vocational education's crucial role in economic development and workforce readiness. It is recommended that comprehensive awareness campaigns should be launched to highlight the benefits of vocational education, enhance career counseling services, strengthen partnerships with industry for job placements, and advocate for policy reforms to elevate the status of vocational pathways in society.
