ABSTRACT: The Role of Cultural Sensitivity Training in Vocational Settings examines the importance of cultural competence in vocational education and its impact on student success and workplace harmony. This study investigates how cultural sensitivity training enhances educators' and students' ability to interact effectively in diverse vocational environments. The objectives were: to assess the effectiveness of cultural sensitivity training programs in improving intercultural communication and understanding in vocational settings, to analyze the benefits of culturally competent vocational education for students and employers, and to propose strategies for integrating cultural sensitivity training into vocational curricula. A survey research design was employed to collect data from vocational educators, students, and employers, providing insights into current practices and perceptions related to cultural competence in vocational education. A sample size of 250 respondents was purposively selected to include participants from technical colleges and vocational training centers in Rivers State, Nigeria, recognized for their cultural diversity. The case study focused on a vocational institution in Port Harcourt, showcasing initiatives to embed cultural sensitivity training in its curriculum and organizational culture. Findings indicated that cultural sensitivity training promoted respect for diversity, improved teamwork, and enhanced student learning experiences in vocational settings. It is recommended that vocational institutions should prioritize cultural competence training for educators and students, foster inclusive learning environments, encourage cross-cultural collaboration, and incorporate multicultural perspectives into vocational curricula to prepare students for globalized workplaces.
