ABSTRACT: The Role of Experiential Learning in Vocational Skill Development explores the impact of hands-on, practical experiences on the acquisition and retention of vocational skills. This study investigates how experiential learning methods such as internships, apprenticeships, and simulations enhance students' competencies and readiness for the workplace. The objectives were: to assess the effectiveness of experiential learning in developing vocational skills, to analyze student perceptions and outcomes related to experiential learning opportunities, and to propose recommendations for optimizing experiential learning in vocational education. A survey design was chosen to gather comprehensive data from vocational educators, students, and industry mentors, providing insights into experiential learning practices and outcomes. A sample size of 300 respondents was purposively selected to include participants actively engaged in experiential learning activities across various vocational disciplines. The case study focused on the Rivers State College of Health Science and Technology, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Findings indicated that experiential learning significantly enhanced practical skills, workplace readiness, and student confidence. It is recommended that vocational institutions should expand internship and apprenticeship opportunities, integrate hands-on projects into curricula, foster partnerships with industry for real-world learning experiences, and provide structured reflection and mentorship to maximize the benefits of experiential learning for vocational students.
