ABSTRACT: The Role of Leadership Development in Vocational Institutions examines the importance of leadership training and development for enhancing institutional effectiveness and student outcomes in vocational education. This study investigates the impact of leadership skills among administrators and educators on organizational culture, student achievement, and overall institutional success. The objectives were: to assess current leadership development initiatives in vocational institutions, to evaluate the impact of effective leadership on student retention and academic performance, and to propose strategies for fostering leadership excellence in vocational education settings. A survey design was chosen to gather comprehensive data from vocational institution leaders, faculty members, and students, providing insights into leadership practices and their effects. A sample size of 200 respondents was selected using a purposive sampling technique to include participants with leadership roles in vocational education. The case study focused on the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure, Ondo State. Findings indicated that strong leadership positively influenced institutional climate, student engagement, and educational outcomes. It was recommended that vocational institutions should prioritize leadership development programs, mentorship opportunities for emerging leaders, and collaborative decision-making processes to enhance leadership capacity and organizational effectiveness.
