ABSTRACT: The Role of Digital Badges in Recognizing Vocational Competencies examines the use of digital badges as a means to validate and showcase vocational skills acquired through training programs. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness and acceptance of digital badges in vocational education settings. The objectives were: to evaluate the perceived value of digital badges among employers, educators, and students, to assess the impact of digital badges on motivating skill acquisition and recognition, and to identify challenges and opportunities in implementing digital badge systems. A survey design was utilized to collect comprehensive data from employers, educators, and vocational students, ensuring a broad understanding of digital badge adoption. A sample size of 300 respondents was chosen using a purposive sampling technique to include participants familiar with digital credentialing and vocational education. The case study focused on the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gusau, Zamfara State. Findings indicated that digital badges were increasingly recognized as valuable credentials, promoting continuous learning and enhancing employability. It was recommended that vocational institutions should collaborate with industry partners to standardize digital badge criteria, raise awareness about their benefits, and integrate digital badge systems into vocational training programs to effectively showcase students' competencies.
