ABSTRACT: Innovations in Assessing Soft Skills Development in Technical Education are essential for preparing students for the workforce. This study investigated new methods for evaluating soft skills in technical education settings. The objectives were: to identify effective assessment tools for soft skills, to evaluate their impact on student development and employability, and to propose best practices for integrating these tools into technical education. A survey design was chosen for its ability to collect detailed data from a large sample, providing comprehensive insights. A sample size of 280 technical education students and instructors was selected using a purposive sampling technique to ensure participants with experience in soft skills assessment were included. The case study was the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State. Findings indicated that innovative assessment tools, such as simulations and peer assessments, significantly improved the evaluation of soft skills, leading to enhanced student development and employability. It was recommended that technical education institutions should adopt a variety of innovative assessment methods, provide training for educators on their use, and continuously review and refine assessment practices to ensure they effectively measure and promote soft skills development.
