ABSTRACT: The Role of Peer Mentoring Programs in Supporting Vocational Students is significant for enhancing student engagement and success. This study investigated the effectiveness of peer mentoring programs in vocational education settings. The objectives were: to assess the current implementation of peer mentoring programs, to evaluate their impact on student academic performance and personal development, and to identify best practices for successful peer mentoring. A survey design was employed to collect extensive data from students, mentors, and educators, enabling a thorough evaluation. A sample size of 300 vocational students and peer mentors was selected using a purposive sampling technique to ensure participants with direct experience in peer mentoring were included. The case study focused on the Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos State. Findings indicated that peer mentoring programs significantly improved student academic performance, increased retention rates, and enhanced personal development. However, challenges such as matching mentors with mentees and providing adequate training were noted. It was recommended that vocational institutions should establish structured peer mentoring programs, provide ongoing training and support for mentors, and regularly evaluate program effectiveness to ensure continuous improvement.
