ABSTRACT: The Role of Sustainability Certifications in Vocational Training is increasingly significant as industries prioritize sustainable practices. This study investigated the impact of sustainability certifications on vocational training outcomes. The objectives were: to evaluate the awareness and uptake of sustainability certifications among vocational training programs, to assess their impact on students' employability and skills, and to identify challenges and benefits of integrating sustainability certifications. A survey design was chosen for its effectiveness in gathering extensive data from a diverse group of respondents within a short timeframe. A sample size of 250 vocational training students and instructors was selected using a purposive sampling technique to ensure participants were familiar with sustainability certifications. The case study was the Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu, Lagos State. Findings indicated that sustainability certifications significantly enhanced employability and provided students with valuable skills aligned with industry demands. However, challenges such as cost and lack of awareness were noted. It was recommended that vocational training programs should increase awareness of sustainability certifications, subsidize the cost of certifications for students, and integrate sustainability topics into the curriculum.
