ABSTRACT: This study evaluates the effectiveness of industry internships in vocational training, examining their role in enhancing students' practical skills, industry knowledge, and career readiness in vocational sectors. Industry internships are pivotal in bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world industry demands, providing students with hands-on experience and professional development opportunities. The objectives were to (1) assess the impact of industry internships on student skill acquisition and job placement rates, (2) analyze factors contributing to successful internship programs in vocational education, and (3) propose recommendations to optimize the effectiveness of industry internships in vocational training. A survey research design was employed to collect data from vocational students, internship supervisors, and industry partners, exploring their perspectives on internship experiences, learning outcomes, and program effectiveness. The sample size comprised 250 participants, selected through purposive sampling to include students enrolled in vocational programs and industry professionals across Nigeria. The case study focused on Rivers State, known for its robust internship programs and collaborative efforts between vocational schools and local industries. Findings indicated that industry internships significantly improved students' technical skills, professional competencies, and employment prospects upon graduation. Effective internship practices included structured mentorship, project-based assignments aligned with industry needs, and formal evaluation mechanisms to assess student performance. Recommendations included expanding internship opportunities, strengthening partnerships with industry stakeholders, and implementing quality assurance measures to ensure internship program relevance and sustainability.
