ABSTRACT: This study examines the effectiveness of vocational education in reducing unemployment rates, focusing on the outcomes and impact of vocational training programs on graduates' employability. The objectives were to (1) evaluate the current state of vocational education programs in addressing unemployment challenges, (2) assess the employment rates and career trajectories of vocational graduates, and (3) propose strategies to enhance vocational education's role in reducing unemployment. A survey design was utilized to collect data from vocational graduates, employers, and government officials, providing insights into the employment outcomes and perceptions of vocational education. The sample size comprised 250 participants, selected through purposive sampling to include recent graduates and employers from various industries. The case study was conducted in Lagos State, Nigeria, chosen for its diverse economic sectors and significant vocational education infrastructure. Findings indicated that vocational education played a crucial role in enhancing graduates' job readiness and employability skills, contributing to reduced unemployment rates in specific sectors. Recommendations included strengthening industry partnerships for work-integrated learning, expanding vocational training opportunities in emerging sectors, and promoting vocational education as a viable pathway to sustainable employment and economic development.
