ABSTRACT: This study examines the role of virtual internships in vocational skill development, focusing on their effectiveness in providing practical experience and enhancing employability. The objectives were to (1) assess the availability and quality of virtual internships in vocational training programs, (2) evaluate the impact of virtual internships on students' skill development and job readiness, and (3) propose strategies to improve the implementation and effectiveness of virtual internships in vocational education. A survey design was employed to gather data from vocational students, educators, and internship providers, offering a comprehensive understanding of the current landscape. The sample size included 200 participants, selected through a purposive sampling technique to ensure a diverse range of experiences. The case study was conducted in Delta State, Nigeria, an area with active engagement in vocational training. Findings indicated that while virtual internships provided valuable learning opportunities, challenges such as limited access to technology and varying quality of internship experiences needed to be addressed. Recommendations included enhancing digital infrastructure in vocational institutions, developing standardized guidelines for virtual internships, and fostering partnerships with reputable organizations to ensure high-quality virtual internship experiences.
