ABSTRACT: This study investigates strategies for integrating industry-specific competencies into vocational curricula, aiming to bridge the skills gap between vocational training and industry needs. The objectives were to (1) identify the key industry-specific competencies required in various vocational sectors, (2) evaluate the current alignment of vocational curricula with these competencies, and (3) propose strategies to effectively integrate industry-specific competencies into vocational training programs. A survey design was utilized to collect data from vocational educators, industry experts, and students, offering insights into the current state and potential areas for improvement. The sample size comprised 220 participants, selected through a purposive sampling technique to ensure representation from different vocational fields. The case study focused on Ogun State, Nigeria, an area with a growing vocational education sector. Findings revealed that while some competencies were being addressed, many critical industry-specific skills were lacking in current curricula. Recommendations included conducting regular industry consultations to update curricula, incorporating practical, hands-on training aligned with industry standards, and establishing continuous feedback mechanisms between vocational institutions and industry stakeholders.
