ABSTRACT: This study investigates the impact of soft skills on vocational job performance, emphasizing the importance of non-technical skills in the workplace. The objectives were to (1) assess the current integration of soft skills training in vocational programs, (2) evaluate the correlation between soft skills proficiency and job performance, and (3) propose strategies to enhance soft skills development in vocational education. A survey design was chosen to collect data from vocational students, educators, and employers. The sample size comprised 220 participants, selected through a purposive sampling technique to ensure a balanced representation of stakeholders. The case study was conducted in Anambra State, Nigeria, an area with a vibrant vocational education sector. Findings revealed that soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving were critical to job performance and often differentiated high-performing employees. However, the integration of soft skills training in vocational programs was found to be insufficient. Recommendations included embedding soft skills training into the vocational curriculum, offering targeted workshops, and encouraging employer partnerships to provide real-world skill application opportunities.
