ABSTRACT: This study examines innovations in assessing career readiness among vocational students, focusing on the effectiveness of new evaluation methods in preparing students for the workforce. The objectives were to (1) assess current career readiness assessment methods, (2) identify innovative assessment techniques, and (3) propose strategies to integrate these innovations into vocational education. A survey design was chosen to gather data from students, educators, and industry professionals to understand the state of career readiness assessments. The sample size included 220 participants, selected through a purposive sampling technique to ensure diverse perspectives. The case study focused on Kaduna State, Nigeria, known for its robust vocational training programs. Findings revealed that traditional assessment methods often failed to capture the full spectrum of skills required for career readiness. Innovative techniques such as portfolio assessments, simulation-based evaluations, and competency-based assessments were found to be more effective. Recommendations included adopting a combination of traditional and innovative assessment methods, providing professional development for educators on new assessment techniques, and leveraging industry partnerships to ensure assessments are aligned with current workforce demands.
