ABSTRACT: This study explores the effectiveness of virtual reality (VR) simulations in vocational training, emphasizing the potential of VR to enhance hands-on learning experiences. The objectives were to (1) assess the impact of VR simulations on students' practical skills, (2) evaluate students' engagement and motivation levels when using VR, and (3) identify challenges and benefits of integrating VR into vocational training. A survey design was employed to gather data from students, educators, and VR developers, providing comprehensive insights into the use of VR in vocational education. The sample size comprised 200 participants, selected through a purposive sampling technique to ensure relevant experience with VR in vocational training. The case study focused on Lagos State, Nigeria, a region known for its technological advancements and educational initiatives. Findings revealed that VR simulations significantly enhanced practical skills acquisition by providing realistic and immersive learning environments. Students reported higher engagement and motivation levels when using VR compared to traditional methods. However, challenges such as the high cost of VR equipment and the need for technical training for educators were noted. Recommendations included increasing investment in VR technology, providing professional development for educators, and incorporating VR simulations into the vocational curriculum to enhance practical skills training.
