Abstract: The impact of career-oriented electives in secondary vocational education is significant in preparing students for specialized career paths and enhancing their readiness for post-secondary education or the workforce. This study explores the effectiveness of offering career-oriented electives in secondary schools, focusing on their influence on students' career decision-making, skill development, and academic engagement. Objectives include evaluating the implementation of career-oriented electives in secondary schools, assessing students' perceptions of elective courses' relevance to future career goals, and identifying challenges and opportunities in integrating career pathways into secondary education. A survey research design is justified for its ability to gather data from 220 participants, including secondary school teachers, students, and parents, using purposive sampling to ensure representation from schools offering diverse vocational electives in Kaduna State. Case studies will highlight schools known for their robust career pathway programs, demonstrating the impact of elective courses on students' academic achievement and career preparedness. Findings reveal that career-oriented electives enhance students' career exploration, skill acquisition, and motivation towards academic success. Recommendations emphasize expanding elective course offerings, enhancing career counseling services, and fostering partnerships with industry mentors to enrich students' vocational learning experiences and career development opportunities.
