Abstract: Innovations in assessing problem-solving skills in technical education are pivotal for evaluating students' competency in applying theoretical knowledge to practical challenges. This study explores emerging assessment methods that enhance problem-solving skills among technical education students. Objectives include evaluating the effectiveness of innovative assessment tools, exploring perceptions of problem-solving assessment among educators and students, and identifying best practices for integrating problem-solving competencies into technical curricula. A survey research design is chosen to gather data from 220 participants, including technical educators and students, using purposive sampling to ensure representation from diverse technical disciplines and educational levels in Edo State. Case studies will focus on technical schools renowned for their progressive approaches to skill assessment and curriculum development. Findings indicate that innovative assessment methods, such as project-based learning and simulation exercises, improve students' problem-solving abilities and readiness for technical careers. Recommendations emphasize adopting technology-enhanced assessment tools, faculty training in pedagogical innovations, and curriculum reforms that prioritize hands-on problem-solving experiences in technical education.
