Abstract: The impact of work-integrated learning on vocational skill retention is vital for ensuring that students retain and apply the skills learned during their training. This study investigates how work-integrated learning experiences, such as internships and cooperative education, influence skill retention and employability. The objectives are: (1) to assess the effectiveness of work-integrated learning in enhancing skill retention, (2) to evaluate student and employer satisfaction with work-integrated learning experiences, and (3) to identify best practices for implementing work-integrated learning programs. A survey research design is utilized, justified by the need to gather detailed feedback from students, educators, and employers. The sample size includes 300 participants selected through purposive sampling. The case study focuses on vocational institutions in Kano State, known for their strong emphasis on practical training. Findings indicated that work-integrated learning significantly enhanced skill retention and employability, with high levels of satisfaction among students and employers. However, challenges such as finding suitable placements and aligning academic and industry expectations were noted. Recommendations included increasing collaboration with industry partners, providing support for students in finding placements, and ensuring alignment between academic curricula and industry needs.
