Abstract: Job shadowing programs provide valuable opportunities for vocational students to explore potential career paths, gain firsthand experience in their chosen fields, and make informed career decisions. This study examines the influence of job shadowing programs on vocational career exploration and student career choices. The objectives are: (1) to evaluate the impact of job shadowing on students' understanding of various career options, (2) to assess the benefits of job shadowing for skill development and career readiness, and (3) to analyze student and employer perceptions of job shadowing programs. A survey research design is employed, justified by the need to collect detailed feedback from students, educators, and employers involved in job shadowing initiatives. The sample size includes 300 participants selected through purposive sampling to ensure representation of key stakeholders. The case study focuses on vocational schools in Edo State, which have implemented successful job shadowing programs. Findings indicated that job shadowing significantly enhanced students' understanding of their chosen careers, provided valuable hands-on experience, and improved their career readiness. Both students and employers reported positive perceptions of job shadowing, highlighting its role in bridging the gap between education and employment. Recommendations include expanding job shadowing opportunities, developing structured job shadowing programs with clear learning objectives, and fostering strong partnerships with industry to facilitate student placements.
