Abstract: Soft skills play a critical role in enhancing technical competencies, as they are essential for effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving in the workplace. This study assesses the importance of soft skills in vocational education and their impact on technical competencies. The objectives are: (1) to identify key soft skills that complement technical training, (2) to evaluate the integration of soft skills training in vocational curricula, and (3) to assess the impact of soft skills on student employability and performance in technical fields. A survey research design is justified by the need to gather insights from educators, students, and employers on the role of soft skills in technical training. The sample size includes 350 participants selected through purposive sampling to represent diverse perspectives from various vocational institutions and industries. The case study is conducted in Kaduna State, known for its strong vocational education programs. Findings revealed that soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving are highly valued by employers and significantly enhance technical competencies. Educators and employers emphasized the need for comprehensive soft skills training to prepare students for the demands of the modern workplace. Recommendations include integrating soft skills modules into technical curricula, providing continuous training for educators on soft skills instruction, and fostering partnerships with industry to offer real-world soft skills development opportunities.
