Abstract: This research addresses equity issues in access to vocational programs in Nigeria, examining barriers, disparities, and inclusive strategies aimed at promoting equal opportunities for diverse student populations in technical education. Equity in vocational education encompasses fair access, representation, and support for historically marginalized groups, including women, minorities, persons with disabilities, and economically disadvantaged individuals. The study aims to (1) identify barriers and disparities hindering equitable access to vocational programs, (2) assess existing policies, programs, and initiatives promoting equity and inclusion in vocational education, and (3) propose recommendations for advancing equity agendas to ensure all students have equitable access to high-quality vocational training and educational opportunities. A survey research design is employed to gather insights from vocational students, educators, and equity advocates familiar with access barriers and equity promotion efforts. A sample size of 300 participants will be chosen through purposive sampling to represent vocational students, equity officers, and educational policymakers in Plateau State. Case studies will examine successful equity initiatives and their outcomes in promoting diversity, inclusion, and equitable access in vocational education. Findings indicated disparities in access based on socio-economic status, gender, and geographic location, identified effective strategies such as targeted recruitment efforts, financial aid programs, and culturally responsive pedagogies, and highlighted the role of policy advocacy, community partnerships, and data-driven decision-making in advancing equity agendas. Recommendations include strengthening equity policies, expanding outreach efforts, and enhancing support services to create inclusive environments and ensure equitable access to vocational programs for all students.
