Abstract: This research analyzes the effectiveness of career academies in technical education in Nigeria, examining specialized programs, industry partnerships, and integrated curriculum models designed to prepare students for specific career pathways in technical fields. Career academies offer structured pathways that combine academic instruction with hands-on training, industry certifications, and workplace experiences, enhancing student engagement, skill acquisition, and career readiness in vocational education. The study aims to (1) evaluate the impact of career academies on student academic achievement, skill development, and career outcomes, (2) assess perceptions and experiences of stakeholders including students, educators, and industry partners regarding career academy benefits and challenges, and (3) propose recommendations for optimizing career academy models to improve educational quality, workforce alignment, and student success in technical education. A survey research design is employed to gather insights from vocational students, academy instructors, and industry mentors familiar with career academy structures and outcomes. A sample size of 300 participants will be chosen through purposive sampling to represent vocational students, academy coordinators, and industry partners in Enugu State. Case studies will examine successful career academy models and their outcomes in enhancing student preparedness and workforce integration. Findings indicated positive impacts of career academies on student engagement and skill acquisition, identified challenges such as resource constraints and curriculum alignment issues, and highlighted the role of industry partnerships, mentorship programs, and career guidance in optimizing career academy effectiveness. Recommendations include expanding industry collaborations, enhancing curriculum flexibility, and integrating employer feedback to ensure career academies effectively prepare students for successful careers in technical fields.
