Abstract: This research explores the influence of career guidance programs on vocational choices in Nigeria, examining the role of structured guidance interventions in assisting students with career exploration, decision-making, and vocational pathway selection in diverse educational contexts. Career guidance programs play a critical role in providing information, resources, and support to help individuals make informed educational and career choices aligned with their interests, abilities, and aspirations. The study aims to (1) assess the impact of career guidance interventions on student career awareness, decision-making processes, and vocational aspirations, (2) explore the effectiveness of different career guidance approaches and strategies in supporting vocational choices, and (3) propose recommendations for enhancing career guidance program effectiveness to improve educational and vocational outcomes in Nigeria. A survey research design is employed to gather insights from career counselors, educators, and students who have participated in career guidance programs. A sample size of 400 participants will be chosen through purposive sampling to represent career counselors, vocational students, and educational administrators in Ogun State. Case studies will examine successful career guidance initiatives and their outcomes in facilitating informed decision-making and career planning. Findings indicated positive impacts of career guidance on student career awareness and decision-making, identified challenges such as limited counselor-to-student ratios and resource constraints, and highlighted the role of personalized counseling and experiential learning opportunities in enhancing guidance program effectiveness. Recommendations include expanding counselor training and support, integrating career exploration into curriculum frameworks, and leveraging technology for scalable and personalized career guidance interventions to empower students in making informed vocational choices and achieving career success.
