Abstract: This study analyzes student motivation in technical education programs in Nigeria, examining factors influencing student engagement, persistence, and academic success in vocational and technical fields. Motivation plays a crucial role in student learning outcomes and program effectiveness, impacting retention rates and career readiness in technical education. The research aims to (1) identify motivational factors influencing student enrollment and participation in technical education, (2) assess the impact of motivational strategies and support mechanisms on student performance and satisfaction, and (3) propose recommendations for enhancing student motivation to improve educational outcomes and promote lifelong learning in technical fields. A survey research design is justified to gather insights from students, educators, and educational psychologists. A sample size of 300 participants will be selected through purposive sampling to represent vocational students, motivational experts, and educational administrators in Akwa Ibom State. Case studies will explore effective motivational interventions and their impact on student engagement and achievement. Findings indicated that intrinsic motivation, supportive learning environments, and career aspirations significantly influence student engagement and academic performance, with challenges such as lack of resources and student disengagement posing barriers. Recommendations include implementing motivational workshops, fostering mentorship programs, and integrating experiential learning opportunities to cultivate intrinsic motivation and enhance student engagement and success in technical education programs.
