ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to evaluate the impact of Warri port on hinterland development . Specifically, the studyfind out whether Warri port has contributed to its development, examine whether indigenes of Warri has benefitted from the port and investigate whether the management of the port has contributed to the infrastructural development in Warri. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 141 responses were validated from the survey. From the responses obtained and analyzed, the findings revealed that Warri port has contributed to the economic development of Warri. The study also revealed that the indigenes of Warri have benefitted from the port. The study thereby recommend that the Nigerian government should develop the country’s hinterland infrastructure of rail and water ways. This will not only facilitate swift transfer of cargo from the ports to the hinterland but will also greatly improve ports operations by reducing congestion both in the ports and on roads and also development of the hinterland.
