Abstract

This research explores effective strategies for building a strong foundation in early childhood literacy development, focusing on phonological awareness, alphabet knowledge, and reading comprehension. A survey research design is employed, justified by its ability to gather data from a large sample size. Using Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 400 participants is derived, consisting of early childhood educators in Oyo State, Nigeria. A case study of two selected schools is conducted to provide detailed insights. The reliability coefficient score is 0.90, indicating high internal consistency. Findings suggest that multisensory approaches, storytelling, and parental involvement are effective strategies for early childhood literacy development. Recommendations include the integration of these strategies into literacy curricula and provision of resources for literacy development.
