PERCEPTION OF PARENTS AND STUDENTS ON THE CAUSES AND REMEDIES OF DRUG ABUSE AMONG STUDENTS IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN KADUNA STATE,NIGERIA

ABSTRACT

This study was instituted to find out the Perception of Parents and Students, on the Causes and Remedies of Drug Abuse among Students in Senior Secondary Schools in Kaduna State. The study had four objectives, research questions and four hypotheses. This study employed a survey research design, the population of the study was forty one thousand four hundred and thirty eight student (41438) and a sample size of eight hundred and twenty eight (828) samples, four hundred and fourteen (414) parents and four hundred and fourteen (414) students across Kaduna State. Means and standard deviation were used to analyse the data collected and the test of hypotheses was based at 0.05 level of significant. The study found that difference existed on parents perceived causes of drug abuse among secondary school students. The findings shows that there is significant difference on student‘s perceived causes of drug abuse among secondary school students. The study, recommended that parents and students perceived causes of drug abuse among secondary school students should guard against the causes in Kaduna state. |Male and female students should be engaged in attainment of good programmes in the school that will served as source of learning good values among students. This therefore become remedy among secondary school students taking drugs abuse in Kaduna state.
