Given the important role that social media play in image management of any business entity in today’s digitalised world, this study seeks to examine social media and organisation image management in private sector with a focus on Igbinedion university, Okada, Edo state, Baze university, Abuja and Lead city university, Ibadan. The study adopted a cross-sectional survey design and 285 students were selected from the three private universities using a random sampling method. Also, a total of fifteen (15), five media specialist in the ICT department from each of the chosen universities were purposively selected for interview. A well- constructed and self-developed questionnaire titled “Social Media and Organisational Image Management in Private Sector Organisation Questionnaire (SMOIMPSO)” was used to get the desired information from students. Findings reveals that organisational image management cannot be meaningfully examined in isolation of social media. It was recommended that private universities should make and effectively use various social media platforms that its publics/customers are registered on.
