EXCERPT FROM THE STUDY
The term "insecurity" covers a wide range of meanings. It denotes risk, peril, and uncertainty, as well as a lack of protection and safety. Insecurity, according to Beland (2005) as cited in Ani (2014), is "a condition of worry or anxiety resulting from a physical or perceived absence of protection." It refers to a lack of or insufficient protection against danger. Insecurity is defined as the absence of peace, order, and security (Balgarian, 2014). Insecurity is defined in two ways by Achumba, Ighomeroho, and Akpor (2013). To begin, insecurity is the state of being exposed to or threatened by danger, where danger refers to the state of being vulnerable to damage or injury. Second, insecurity is defined as the state of being exposed to danger or anxiety, where anxiety is defined as a vague unpleasant sensation felt in anticipation of a tragedy. These definitions of insecurity highlight a key point: persons who are impacted by insecurity are not only unsure of what will happen, but they are also exposed to threats and hazards when they do.
