ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to examine the role of mass media in achieving a sustainable health care in Nigeria using Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) as a case study. Specifically, the study aimed at ascertaining the kind of role mass media have placed in achieving sustainable health care in Nigeria. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 50 responses were validated from the survey. The study adopted the Innovation Diffusion Theory and the Social Responsibility Media Theory. From the responses obtained and analysed, the findings revealed that mass media can be used to achieve sustainable health care in Nigeria, OSBC educate and enlighten the people on health matters and other environmental related issues, OSBC programmes have improved the health education and awareness among the people, People exposed to OSBC health programmes and news reports enhance their standard of living. The study recommend The management of OSBC should keep on presenting their programme that help the people to maintain good health and improve their living standard seeing that mass media plays a vital role in achieving a sustainable health care in Nigeria.
