ABSTRACT

The study examines the effects of Teachers’ Instability on the performance of pupils in Private Schools in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State and Nigeria at large. Relevant literatures were reviewed; questionnaires were administered to teachers in some private schools. The data collected were analyzed using simple percentage. The data analyzed shows that teachers’ instability is caused by poor salary, lack of professional attitude, excessive workload among others. The research also indicates that teachers’ instability affects emotional stability of pupils, poor academic performance and so on. However, the researcher made some possible suggestions and recommendations to the administrators of private schools on how best the problem of teachers’ instability can be tackled in our educational system. Some of the recommendations include, good salary, motivation, and promotion among other. These will reduce the rate of teachers’ instability in our educational system thereby providing quality education for the upcoming generation.
