THE USE OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY IN TEACHING OF BUSINESS STUDY

ABSTRACT

This study was carried out on the use of information and communication technology in teaching of business study. To achieve this 4 research objectives were formulated.  The survey design was adopted and the simple random sampling techniques were employed in this study. The population size comprise of 200 staff of the selected secondary schools in Lagos state. In determining the sample size, the researcher applied the Taro Yamani formula purposively and selected 133 respondents. Self-constructed and validated questionnaire was used for data collection. The collected and validated questionnaires were analyzed using frequency tables and percentage. While the hypothesis were tested using Chi-square statistical too. SPSS v23.

The result of the findings reveals that; information communication technology does have a significant effect on the teaching of business studies in junior secondary schools; ICT does play a significant role in enhancing student academic performance in business study in junior secondary school.

Based on the findings,  it is of the researcher’s opinion that Institutions of higher learning where business studies teachers are being trained should fully equip business education department with ICT gadgets so as to give them necessary training that would enable the teachers have full knowledge and skills they would transfer to their students. To increase professional development.
